Danson Kago speaks to Sofapaka fans |
Danson Kago is on the Spot Light to answer Sofapaka Fans' questions. Kenya’s International and Sofapaka FC Offensive Midfielder Danson Kago has admitted that the Saturday match against Muhoroni FC in Machakos Stadium will be a tough one. “We have beaten Muhoroni twice this season, and beating a team thrice in the same season is always never an easy task”. Sofapaka edged out Muhoroni in the first leg of the Kenyan Premier League before eliminating the Nyanza based side 1-2 in the Gotv Shield knock out round two weeks ago. “All of us in the camp know it won’t be easy, but we are ready for the match. We want to win the title, and that’s why we have to beat Muhoroni again.” Kago was speaking during the weekly ‘Player and Fans question and answer session’. On whether Sofapaka can win a double this season, Kago believes it is possible. He however notes that the boys will have to be 100% dedicated to all the remaining matches, and treat every match as if it were a final. When asked about his future at the club, Kago says, “I still have some time at the club. My contract with the club lasts to mid next year, and until then, I really can’t say for sure. But right now I am a Sofapaka, and it shall remain that way.” On how he feels about getting his first call-up to the Kenyan National Team, Kago says that he was really honored to be considered by the National Team coach, Bobby Williamson. “I think it’s every player’s dream to play for their national team, and this makes me very happy. To have a chance to play for my country is really a big honor.” Kago also disclosed that he has a junior football mentorship program that he runs when he is not with sofapaka. The program is based at Gichurai in Nairobi. “I have young boys of ages under 12s, 14s and under 17s. We meet during weekdays after their school work and teach each other more football. I love working with kids because I want them to have a better football career; and I also want them to remember me for helping them build their football”.
